Will this freezer aisle creation live up to the iconic original?

After expressing the possibility of adding frozen fried Twinkies to its product lineup, Hostess has officially unveiled Deep Fried Twinkies, a freezer aisle item inspired by the iconic carnival treat.

Anne D’Innocenzio of The Associated Press leaked the news via a tweet, which shows an image of the product packaging and details that Walmart has a one-year exclusive.

On the packaging, the product is described as a battered sponge cake with creamy filling. It is a frozen product that is to be enjoyed hot by baking in the oven for a few minutes.

Though the frozen fried Twinkies probably won’t live up to the original, the idea of enjoying fried Twinkies in the comfort of your home does sound appealing.

We’ll be waiting patiently for these to hit Walmart shelves.
