Restaurant Owner Gets 3-Month Sentence For Recording Women In The Restroom

The owner of Rams Head Tavern, a restaurant in Savage, Maryland, has been sentenced to 90 days in prison for videotaping women in the restaurant's restroom, The Washington Post reports.

Police began an investigation at the Rams Head after a woman told local police, in May 2014, that a digital camera fell onto the floor while she was in the restroom. If this story sounds familiar, it's because similar invasions of privacy have happened at a number of other restaurants, including one instance where a five-year-old boy was the one who discovered the camera.

The camera's memory card showed 37-year-old Muehlhauser placing the camera in the bathroom, as well as images of six women. In February of this year, Muehlhauser was arrested on six counts of unlawful surveillance.

Muehlhauser received a suspended two-year sentence, but will only serve 90 days of that time as long as he does not violate the terms of his release.

Muehlhauser's sentence began Thursday, July 16.
