Pizza Hut Just Delivered A Pizza To The Summit Of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Pizza Hut can now be found in more than half of the world's countries. To celebrate reaching that impressive summit of 100 countries with Pizza Hut, the brand decided to celebrate by conquering another summit: Mt. Kilimanjaro. Pizza Hut, after opening its first store in Tanzania, teamed up with professional guides to make the 19,000-foot vertical climb to the top of the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

General Manager of Pizza Hut Africa, Randall Blackford, made the treacherous climb, along with the guides who made sure he was safe.[slideshow

A spokesperson from Guinness World Records confirmed with CNN that at a jaw-dropping 19,347 foot-climb, the delivery broke the world record for highest elevation pizza delivery ever.

This pizza delivery took a lot longer than your average, Friday night Seamless wait. The journey began with the pizza prep process in the new Pizza Hut located in Dar es Salaam. It was then flown to the Kilimanjaro International Airport. The team carried the pizza in an insulated, battery-heated backpack specially designed to keep the pie horizontal, and they made the long trek up the side of one of the tallest mountains in the world.

Then, of course, after reaching the peak, the team feasted.

"Those guys got the pizza and were racing to the top," Randall Blackford, an Eagle Scout based in Johannesburg, South Africa, told CNN Money. "Nothing tasted as good as a pizza after hiking through the night."
