New Champion? Matt Stonie Beats Out Joey Chestnut Again By Scarfing 10.5 Pounds Of Ribs

Matt Stonie has done it again. The 120-pound recent college graduate doesn't look like a heavyweight competitive eater, but he certainly plays (and chews) like one.Earlier this summer, the "Megatoad" unseated reigning champion Joey Chestnut at the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. Chestnut had previously won eight years in a row.

Although Stonie is still listed as the No. 2 eating champion in the world, he beat legendary Joey Chestnut again by eating 10.5 pounds of ribs in 12 minutes at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off in Sparks, Nevada. Chestnut, meanwhile, was only (only?) capable of eating 9.75 pounds of ribs.

"Joey Chestnut has dominated this event for eight years out of the past nine, so to come here for the 10th annual Rib Eating Championship and take the title from him, it feels amazing" Stonie said in a news release.

He took home a $5,000 cash prize.
