Momofuku's Ssäm Sauce Now Available Online And At Whole Foods Stores In New York City

Momofuku's original Ssäm Sauce, the Korean chile sauce staple that has been an important part of all Momofuku kitchens since the opening of Noodle Bar in 2004, is now available for purchase online, as well as at all Whole Foods Markets in New York City.

"Ssäm Sauce is our very own version of a Momofuku mother sauce," said chef and founder David Chang. "For years, our chefs have used the flavors of Ssäm Sauce as staples in the Momofuku pantry. To us, its versatility is what makes it so essential in our kitchens. We think Ssäm Sauce makes everything taste better."

The sauce features a "traditional, umami-rich, hot pepper seasoning called gochujang," along with miso, sake, soy sauce, and rice vinegar.

Though the sauce originated with Korean cuisine, you should be able to pair it with lots of different things — ramen, pizza, fried chicken, and burgers, to name a few. At the very least, add it to your condiment list so that we can all resume acknowledging that there are other hot sauce options besides Sriracha.
