Mindy Kaling's 'Spicy And Cheesy' Umami Burger Is Officially Here

The Mindy Burger, the latest addition to Umami Burger's Artist Series, is now available at participating locations nationwide.

For her namesake burger, Kaling chose to top Umami's signature beef patty with pickled jalapeño, fried onion strings, and house-made sriracha aïoli.

"I love Umami and I was so honored to be able to create my own burger," Kaling said. "Spicy and cheesy, it reflects my own personality."

A portion of proceeds from the Mindy Burger will benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, in memory of Kaling's mother, who died suddenly of pancreatic cancer in 2012 — the very same day that Fox picked up Mindy's sitcom, The Mindy Project.

Pancreatic cancer is among the deadliest of cancers, with a five-year survival rate of just seven percent. Funding will help the organization to meet one of its biggest goals — to double the survival rate by the year 2020.

Beginning Tuesday, September 1, the Mindy Burger is available at Umami Burger for $13. On Tuesday, September 15, The Mindy Project returns for season four on Hulu, and Kaling's newest book, Why Not Me, launches on the same day.
