Mario Batali Created A Patti Smith-Inspired Linguine Recipe With Anchovies And Truffles

In his new web series Feedback Kitchen, Mario Batali hangs out with legendary punk rocker Patti Smith and creates a new dish inspired by Smith's work.

"I was curious about how my musician friends create their art, and thought, 'Maybe if I make them lunch, they'll open up,'" Batali told Billboard of the inspiration behind the show, which premiered January 26.

So far, Batali's guests have also included U2's The Edge, Josh Groban, and Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

"I mostly made [them] up as I went," Batali said of the recipes. "I know Patti is a fan of anchovies and black truffles, so that dish wrote itself."

The full recipe, which features anchovies, braised kale, sweet garlic, and black truffles, is available on Billboard, where you can also watch the full episode of Feedback Kitchen.

And let it be known that even though the style of each webisode alternates between grunge-inspired color and black and white, we know he's wearing those bright orange Crocs under the table.
