Like many restaurants in New York City, a large part of why Recette is closing is tied to increasing rents, as well as the restaurant’s’ inconveniently small size, according to The New York Times. The restaurant could not even serve lunch, he says, because chefs had to prep in the dining room during the day.
“Recette will live on in the Gander’s dining room,” he told The New York Times, which gave Recette two stars in 2010. “Many of our customers wanted the Recette experience.”
Recette will serve its final meal on Saturday, and chef Schenker will be bringing his entire Recette staff over to The Gander to add à la carte options and a bar menu, as well as the tasting menu.
