IHOP Waiter Offered Job After Helping To Feed A Disabled Customer

A photo of one waiter's efforts to go above and beyond for his regular customers has gone viral and touched hearts around the country. Joe Thomas, a waiter at an IHOP in Springfield, Illinois, frequently serves a disabled woman and her husband.

One day he decided to help the woman by feeding her during his shift. The moment of kindness was captured on camera by Springfield resident Keshia Dotson, who was hoping the company would recognize his work.

"I always see him stop eating to feed her and I was like, 'Heck if I'm not doing anything why don't I go feed her so he can eat and everyone can be happy?'" Thomas told Fox News, referring to the couple, who have been visiting the same IHOP for years.

Thomas said that since the photo has been shared on Facebook, he has gotten job offers to become a nurse, but is shy about all the extra attention.

"I am out there to help anyone if I can, don't really look for anything in return, just have a good day and that's it," he said.
