Google Launches Food And Services Delivery App

Google can do practically everything else, so why not food delivery? The tech giant is trying a unique approach to the food delivery trend with Areo — a new app that is currently being tested in India. With Areo, users can order dinner and make an appointment with a plumber or electrician all in one app.

The similar service over in the states is Google Express, which, much like Amazon Prime, delivers groceries and other goods straight to your door. But this app is more inclusive and allows users to order from restaurants or order "home services" like painters, plumbers, electricians, and landscapers. According to screenshots there's even a "Beauty" section, so presumably you can schedule haircut and nail salon appointments, all in one place.

Google has announced that the food section will include delivery from "restaurants, providers, and chefs," so presumably you could order a home-cooked meal from a professional chef. You can even search for specific meals from local restaurants (if you're really craving a chicken parm, for example).

"We are constantly experimenting with ways to better serve our users in India. In this case, Areo makes everyday chores and ordering food easier by bringing together useful local services like ordering food or hiring a cleaner in one place," Google told The Verge in a statement.
