David Chang Is Bringing A New Restaurant To South Street Seaport

David Chang of Momofuku fame is set to open yet another eatery, this time in South Street Seaport. Very few details are known, but a New York Post exclusive has detailed what we do know.

Howard Hughes Corporation, which is in the middle of a $1.7 billion redevelopment of South Street Seaport, announced plans "for a dynamic new restaurant concept" in a letter to shareholders. It has been revealed that Chang's Momofuku restaurant group has signed a lease and is opening a new restaurant on Pier 17.

The restaurant's exact location, opening date, and size have not been revealed, but sources told The Post that it will be a sit-down restaurant.

The paper speculates that the move to bring Chang into the mix at South Street and the deal made with Jean-Georges Vongerichten last fall to open a gourmet food hall and restaurant suggests Hughes Corp. wants to make South Street a destination for both tourists and native New Yorkers alike once again.
