Ben & Jerry's Drops Politically Aware 'Empower Mint' Ice Cream Flavor
I scream, you scream, we all scream for democracy! Ben & Jerry's is bringing political activism to the forefront of their brand with a new flavor: Empower Mint" made with peppermint ice cream, fudge swirls, and fudge brownies.
The new flavor is the ice cream mascot of a movement started by the company to expand voter access and voting rights, and the movement to get big money out of the political process, as well as overturn Citizens United and strengthening the Voting Rights Act.Founders Ben and Jerry have themselves been politically active this election cycle, and have personally supported and campaigned for Senator Bernie Sanders separately from the company.
"This fudge-filled flavor reflects our belief that voting gives everyone a taste of empowerment, & that an election should be more 'by the people' and less 'buy the people!'" Ben & Jerry's said in a press statement.
