Ben & Jerry's Cofounder Dreams Up Bernie Sanders-Inspired Ice Cream Flavor

Celebrity-inspired flavors are nothing new to Ben & Jerry's from 'Yes, Pecan,' inspired by President Obama, to 'Whirled Peace' for John Lennon, and the famous 'Cherry Garcia' created for Jerry Garcia.

Ben & Jerry's cofounder Ben Cohen, a supporter for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, has revealed his idea for a Sanders-inspired ice cream flavor in an interview with MSNBC. Cohen's 'Bernie's Yearning,' is a unique spin on mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Cohen says, "When you open up the pint, there's this big disc of chocolate on the top covering the entire top and below it is just plain mint ice cream. The disc of chocolate represents 90 percent of the wealth that's gone to the top 10 percent over the last 10 years." He continues, "You take your spoon and you whack that big chocolate disc into little pieces and mix it around," indicating a clear (and also delicious) political statement on spreading the wealth.
