Bacon-Topped Hot Dog In A Krispy Kreme Doughnut Bun: Most American Food Ever?

Gone are the days of simple ballpark fare: a hot dog topped with mustard and a box of Cracker Jacks on the side. Nowadays, baseball stadiums seem to be competing to sell us heart attacks on a plate while we watch America's favorite game. First the Arizona Diamondbacks gave us the churro dog, and now the minor league team the Wilmington Blue Rocks, a single-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, have added a — wait for it — bacon-topped hot dog nestled in a Krispy Kreme doughnut bun, all slathered in raspberry jelly. To which we say, wow! We didn't think so many calories could fit on one plate.

The Krispy Kreme bacon dog is truly a masterpiece. It was unveiled today by the team on Twitter:

"When you think about baseball, you think about hot dogs," said the team's catering company, Centerplate, general manager Josh Attix. "Krispy Kreme came on as a sponsor last year and challenged us to create something unique that featured their product in the stadium. We worked together to combine the best of what we have to offer, and created sweet and savory, with the raspberry jelly and the bacon on top.

I don't think I've seen anyone do this with a hot dog before." This crazy concoction doesn't have a moniker just yet, but you can enter a name yourself. We suggest The Artery Clogger 3000.
