AutismCOOKS! Event Brings Together 15 Celebrity Chefs

The AutismCOOKS! Celebrity Chef Gala brings together the talents of 15 celebrity chefs, all in the name of a good cause.

Hosted by celebrity chef and Hungryroot founder Franklin Becker, the Oct. 24 event will raise money for Pop.Earth, a non-profit organization whose mission is to "provide holistic health and wellness options to those with autism and developmental disabilities for low-cost to free," according to the event website.

Participating chefs include Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto, Marc Vetri of Vetri, Michael White of Marea, and Jonathan Benno of Lincoln.

Pop.Earth was founded by Debbie Stone, the mother of an 11-year-old child with autism, when she was unable to find "affordable activities, workshops and classes to ease the symptoms of her son." Stone's Om Holistic Center for Autism & Developmental Disorders offers free and affordable programming including yoga, massage therapy, art therapy, and music therapy.

Stone is also launching Pop-U-Lace at AutismCOOKS! shoelaces with GPS technology so that parents with disabled children can track them when necessary.
