Ariana Grande Apologizes For Licking A Tray Of Doughnuts, Saying She 'Hates America'

Pop star Ariana Grande has been receiving a lot of flak for stating that she "hates America," but she's insisting that the comment was taken out of context.

On July 8, Grande was at Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California, where she surreptitiously licked a doughnut set on the shop's counter, as seen in this video from TMZ. The video was taken from a security camera at the doughnut shop. Taking it a step further, Grande then said, "What... is that? I hate Americans, I hate America," when one of the workers at the shop brought out a tray of large doughnuts.

After the video was leaked, Grande explained on Twitter that it was all a misunderstanding and that her statement was taken out of context. She cited her advocacy for healthy eating and said that she feels frustrated that the United States has one of the highest childhood obesity rates in the world.

Police and Riverside County public health officials are now investigating the video. The cashier at Wolfee Donuts said that Grande did not purchase any of the doughnuts that she licked, also stating that the popstar was "really rude."

The AP asked Grande's representatives about the police investigation, but she had no further comment.
