Actress Tori Spelling Sues Benihana Following Burns Sustained From Falling Onto A Hibachi Grill

Actress Tori Spelling is suing Benihana after she tripped and fell backwards onto a hot grill at one of the locations in Los Angeles back in April.

The actress alleges that she was badly burned and is seeking more than $25,000 in compensatory damages, according to ABC News.

The papers were filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court September 2 against the restaurant in Encino, California. Spelling reportedly "sustained deep second- and third-degree burn injuries requiring hospitalization and surgery, leading to wage loss, hospital and medical expenses, general damage and "loss of earning capacity," according to the documents.

Her husband, Dean McDermott, told the New York Daily News that she had to get skin grafts — a surgery in which a piece of skin is transplanted to another part of the body.

When asked if the family will press charges against Benihana back in April, McDermott told the Daily News: "I don't know. It was an unfortunate accident. She had a little burn."
