This Smoothie Chain Aims To 'Close The Gap' On International Women's Day

For International Women's Day, Bananas Smoothies & Frozen Yogurt is launching its Common Cents Smoothie, which is offered at a price that reflects the current documented wage gap in America — 80 cents for women and a full dollar for men.

As of last year, women who are employed full time in the United States typically lose a combined total of more than $840 billion every year, according to the National Partnership for Women & Families.

Through this deal, Bananas Smoothies & Frozen Yogurt aims to spark more conversation about equal pay for equal work regardless of industry and education level.

"We hope that through the launch of our Common Cents Smoothie we will continue to raise awareness on a real problem, not only in our industry, but in our country, as 169 years is too long to wait to see change," Andrea Carella, brand manager of Bananas Smoothies & Frozen Yogurt, said in a statement.

The Common Cents Smoothie blends strawberries, peanut butter, honey water, and nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt.

The deal is limited to one per customer and cannot be combined with any other offers.
