New York-Style Joe's Pizza Expands In Los Angeles

Traditional New York-style pizza gains more ground in California with the opening of three new Los Angeles locations of Joe's Pizza, the popular New York City pizzeria. A pizza food truck will also take to the streets of LA this September to serve the crispy crust, tangy marinara, and fresh mozzarella of New York City by the pie or slice.

Sicilian-born owner Giuseppe "Joe" Vitale has had two Hollywood outposts since 2007, where it established itself as the go-to, "no-nonsense" pizza joint for hungry club-going Angelenos craving a taste of New York on the West Coast. Joe spent years slinging pizza from his restaurants in Brooklyn before heading west, so you know it's authentic.

The new locations come as a result of a new partnership with Westfield Mall, which will see a Fashion Square Mall pizzeria opening late this September, and a Century City location in October. You can stalk the pizza truck, which will be driven by Joey Vitale Jr., via Twitter or Facebook for live updates on its whereabouts.

You might not have a Sicilian grandmother, but Joe Vitale does. Thankfully, that means we get not just fantastic pizza, but meatball heroes, garlic knots, and fresh cannoli on the menu, all passed down straight from Italy. Even in LA, traditional can be trendy.
