Must-Have App For The Cook On A Budget

Today's smartphones do just about everything; they're our secretaries, our travel agents, and now, our personal chefs? Not quite, but Yahoo! News reports that a new app released by Cooking Matters, a company dedicated to educating families on cooking affordable and nutritious meals, is coming close.

The Cooking Matters app, available on iTunes and Google Play, is an accessible, portable way to channel the content of one of Cooking Matters' in-store classes into your mobile device.

Adding a great cause to a great idea, Tyson Foods has pledged to donate $1 per download for the first 5,000 apps downloaded to No Kid Hungry, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting childhood hunger in America.

And what's more, this app is free. With more than ninety chef-developed family-friendly recipes, nutrition facts, money-saving tips, this app is a gold mine for home cooks and anyone else trying to feed themselves or their family while watching their wallet.

Category filters make it easy to find the recipes you're looking for, dividing the app's contents into five comprehensive sections: diabetes friendly, kid-approved, 30-minute meals, seasonal ideas, and one-dish meals.
