Foursquare Tips

  • The vegetarian Pumpkin Soup ($14) with mole, sopes, and wild mushrooms is unique and addictively savory.
  • Try the Famous Modern Hash. The hash is a morning knockout: A duo of perfectly poached eggs on that holy pot roast, dressed with potatoes, peppers, and herbs.
  • This my go-to neighborhood spot. Super wholesome stick to your ribs comfort food. Go with the pot roast or meet loaf if it's your first time. Everything is good though.
  • Try the Pot Roast for dinner or pancakes, french toast, eggs and bacon for breakfast
  • The meatloaf is a slice of cozy bliss.
  • Have a local beer and a glass of wine at the same time while enjoying the pot roast.
  • Good comfort food! But very few options for the non-dairy non-red meat diet if you have a group of various people doing lunch.
  • Best brunch in Nordeast.
  • Take a picture of the giant COCK and post it on FourSquare.
  • Have the BBQ Meatloaf sandwich....you're welcome.
  • Try the Apple Risotto! It's a little heavy on the apples but so good.
  • One of the best kept secrets of Minneapolis and it's appeared on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives".
  • Pork cabbage pancakes are crisp, soulful and awesome - good buy at $9, too.
  • They keep a large table for parties of 5 or more open since they don't take reservations. Try the sidecar martini!
  • Good food but not the place for breakfast if you're in a hurry. The service gets slower every time.
  • NOW CLOSED! But had some truly amazing food and was great for vegetarians and vegans and for a truly delicious brunch!
  • The roast beef is ah-maze-ing!
  • Cool and weird vibe.
  • Eggs, coffee, breakfast, and atmosphere
  • Check out The Modern Cafe as seen on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives
