The Pioneer of Fast Casual Pizza Continues Expansion East with Opening in Wayne
Seattle, WA (RestaurantNews.com) MOD Pizza, the Seattle-based company that launched the rapidly growing fast casual pizza segment, today announced their continued expansion in the Philadelphia market, with the opening of their second store in Wayne. Located at 322 West Lancaster Avenue, the store will open on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at noon. This will be the 57th MOD location in the U.S., the fourth in Pennsylvania and the second in Wayne. The company expects to be operating 100 stores by the end of 2015.
As a purpose-led organization, MOD will continue its efforts to put people first and “Spread MODness” by donating 100% of all pizza sales from opening day to Wayne charity Bringing Hope Home, to support their mission to provide “unexpected amazingness to local families with cancer through financial and emotional support”.
“We are thrilled to continue to build our presence in Wayne and to add another 30 incredible individuals to our local MOD Squad,” remarked Scott Svenson, co-founder and CEO of MOD. “More than anything, we are committed to making a positive impact with as many people as possible, beginning with our employees, and continuing with Bringing Hope Home, who are providing inspiration every day within the community.” Since 2008, MOD has proudly supported over 50 community-based charitable organizations, a number which will continue to grow with every new MOD opening.
The first 52 guests on opening day will each enjoy a free individual, artisan-style pizza or hand-tossed salad, and the chance to win free pizza for a year. Additional giveaways and tastings will continue throughout the day. The newest MOD Wayne location will be 2,400 sq ft with an outdoor patio, huge gas-fired display oven and MOD’s signature locally-inspired interiors.
MOD’s individual artisan-style pizzas are made on demand, using fresh-pressed dough and signature sauces. Customers can create their own pizzas and salads, using any combination of over 30 featured toppings, or they can choose from a menu of MOD classics. Pizzas and salads are the same price regardless of the number of toppings. Pizzas are hand-cooked in an 800 degree oven in less than 3 minutes and salads are hand-tossed in front of the customer. MOD also serves handspun milkshakes along with house-made lemonades and iced teas.
MOD currently operates stores in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania and will be opening in Idaho, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina by the end of 2015.
Seattle-based MOD Pizza, founded in 2008 by Scott and Ally Svenson, was inspired by the couple’s love of Italian street-style pizza, their desire for authentic, affordable and fast dining options for their busy family and the idea that a great company could be built around people. By serving its people first, MOD believes its people will be inspired to deliver truly exceptional service. Putting people first is therefore not just the right thing to do, it is good business…that is what MOD is all about.
The Svensons bring their experience from building two highly successful concepts in the UK – Seattle Coffee Company (acquired by Starbucks) and Carluccio’s. MOD’s team of advisors and executives bring additional experience from iconic brands such as Starbucks, Apple, Panera Bread, Disney, T-Mobile, Dunkin Donuts, Qdoba, McDonald’s and Schwartz Brothers Restaurants.
MOD is committed to creating not just a cool place to eat, but an inspired place to work.
