Missouri Brewpub Responds To Starbucks' Cease And Desist

When Exit 6 Pub and Brewery, a Cottleville, Mo., watering hole, received a cease and desist letter from Starbucks, owner Jeff Britton had to laugh. According to KSDK.com, the owner received the notice for brewing the beer formerly known as "Frappicino Beer." In the letter, which the brewery posted on Facebook, a representative from the company said:

"[The name] is likely to cause confusion, mistake, or deception among customers, who may mistakenly believe that Exit 6 or this beer product is affiliated with or licensed by Starbucks Coffee Co., when they are not."

Britton reportedly stated that he of course understands and promptly changed the name to "The F Word" beer, but did not pass up the opportunity for a sparky response. The owner posted this picture of a $6 check paid to the order of Starbucks for their grievances. Since the "bad" press, the microbrewery has seen an increase in business and local support. With no desire to go against the big suits at Starbucks, this small town brewer is going to continue to work with Van Buskirk's Chocolate Bar happily under the new name for their controversial coffee brew.
