The best bathroom in the city, free beer while you wait for your table, and mind-blowing food. What's not to like?
Jon S.
astoundingly, the vegan versions of the pork jowl and the thrice cooked bacon are amazing.
Cassidy
Thrice cooked bacon has enough Sichuan pepper to make you feel like you're eating pop rocks. Aggressive.
Tiffany S.
Excellent food. AND they play creepy twin peaks music in the bathroom!
Shelley S.
Twin peaks soundtrack in the bathrooms!!
?Michael G.
Broccoli beef cheek is real good
Christine C.
it hurts so good--if you thought you could handle spicy food, this is a new level
Sasha G.
pastrami; very delicious, communal tables are annoying, chicken wings very spicy but dry, lamb delicious but on the bone so not very classy, knowledgeable waitstaff, overall winner is cucumber salad
Joy D.
chongqing chicken wings are best ever. thrice cooked bacon omfggg wait is long but free beer while you wait is pretty sweet.
Kevin L.
Authentic meets hip. Go with a bunch of ppl so you can order bunch of things. The salt cod rice, the monk fish liver sashimi, the rice cakes, mapo tofu were all solid. Line gets crazy so go early.
Kathryn Y.
Thrice cooked bacon with rice cakes, tofu skin, bitter melon and chili oil. Not for the faint of heart or small of stomach, but absolutely delicious and incredibly spicy.
Chris C.
I don't wait an hour and a half for food but this is worth it! Screw the free beer, go to Top Hops three blocks down orchard. Had the married couples beef, cumin lamb and thrice cooked bacon, amazing!
Melody K.
Married couples beef, fried chicken wings, and fried rice!
Jen B.
Thrice cooked bacon. You won't regret it.
Benny W.
If you want a really new culinary experience, try the "Married Couples Beef". Your mouth will be delightfully confused and numb.

Don't come in after 10 - the service was horrible. We couldn't have been rushed out faster. The food was good but not as good as I'd hoped. I may have been jaded by the service...
Ben K.
Free beer while you wait! The Ma Po Tofu is the best I've ever had and seriously brings the heat, also worth checking out the Kung Pao Pastrami. Will be back for more and more.

Catfish a la Sichuan, a recent menu addition, packs a prodigious peppercorn wallop. The menu has changed in the two months since Mission's doors opened, so make sure to grab this before it disappears.

2 hour wait on a Friday night...0 minute wait during lunch on a Friday.
Kim M.
Enjoy the Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks themed restrooms.
Pat H.
Don't believe the hype. Food isn't bad but not worth waiting over an hour for. Cool space though.
Cathy M.
Twice cooked bacon and snap peas were good. Pass on the pig tails. For drinks, get the cocktail made with grapefruit!
Megan D.
Bring a carton of milk with you.

Just had lunch here. Not sure what all the fuss is about, most dishes are too salty or spicy to really appreciate the true flavor of the ingredients. Try Yunnan Kitchen down the street, much tastier.

Critics' Pick winner of The Village Voice Best of NYC 2012 Best Chinese (Hipster)!

Cumin lamb is amazing. Everything is amazing. Worth the wait.
Elizabeth
Cumin lamb is amazing! Rich and fall-off-the-bone tender with crusty exterior. Accompanying veg is slightly caramelized. Yum.
Jeremy S.
if you like spicy food, then this is your place
Village Voice
Incorporates regional Chinese, Japanese and American elements along with balls-to-the-wall spiciness in a semi-subterranean premise. Critics' choice for winner of Best of NYC, Best Chinese (Hipster)!
Amy W.
Three words: Fried. Chicken. Hot.
Andrew N.
rice cakes, mapo tofu, pastrami, and get take out if there's a wait
Food Republic
Get with the Mapo Tofu x Kung Pao Pastrami x Thrice Baked Bacon. Beware. The spice ratings are the truth.
Lauren L.
you'll forget how long you waited to get inside once you take your first bite of cumin lamb.
Dheerja K.
Triple fried bacon.
Serious Eats
MCF's version of Chonqing Chicken with Chilies uses meaty wings twice-fried for an extra-crisp crust.
Sarah B.
Twin Peaks restroom. This is all you need.
Jotham S.
The wings are covered with chilies. Don't eat them and then take a piss, without washing hands.
Crystal
Spice so hard but also get the salt cod fried rice!!
Time Out New York
NYers keep turning out in droves at this nondescript storefront, dabbing their sweat-beaded brows & fanning their overheated mouths for relief from chili-oil-soaked peanut noodles & peppered pickles.
Niffy S.
Food is spicy and so is the hostess. Be nice to Chelsea! No more free beer, go to Todd's Mill or Hair of the Dog to wait. Or both!
Alex G.
They do chicken wings for takeout now!!!!
