Meet the Wearable Tech That Will Become Your New Dance Partner

We love going to the ballet. It's an experience that isn't quite like any other, but there is one thing that would make it better: a computer-controlled sphere. Designed by Maria Blaisse, the Breathing Sphere (which is showcased in the above video) is a motorized installation made from woven bamboo that is meant to start a "spatial and formal dialogue." Shown at the Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, Breathing Sphere explores "the structural potential of woven bamboo" and according to Noguchi, Blaisse is in the process of expanding one of her structures into an architectural piece. Details aside, the video highlights the gorgeous fluidity in which the installation is able to move with the dancer, much like a partner on stage, and we can see endless opportunities in the performance art world.
