McDonald's To Open In Siberia

With a solid foothold in Russia, McDonald's is looking east of the Ural Mountains to Siberia, according to the Moscow Times.

The American fast-food chain will open a restaurant in Krasnoyarsk as early as the end of 2013, according to the Moscow Times. The Times also reports that the Golden Arches may also open locations in Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Tomsk, and Novokuznetsk.

No word on if there will be special items on the menu, like the Beef a la Russ, a beef sandwich on rye bread that is on the menu at McDonald's restaurants in Russia. In addition to its regular menu of Big Macs and Happy Meals, McDonald's typically offers special local items in its foreign locations, like the McArabia in Morocco and the Capricho Manchego, a Spanish-style chicken wrap with manchego cheese sauce, in Spain.

The move presents challenges for getting supplies to the restaurants from logistics centers. If the new location does indeed open, McDonald's will join KFC and Subway, which already have outposts in Siberia.
