McDonald's Customers Most Unhappy With Health

Sure, fast-food places are trying to be healthier with salads and granola, but some fast-food patrons are more unhappy with their weight than others.

A new study from BIGinsight found that McDonald's patrons are unhappiest with their health (24 percent reported being unhappy), followed by Taco Bell (23 percent) and Wendy's (22 percent).

Chick-fil-A patrons were happiest with their health, with about 59 percent reporting being happy or totally happy. Subway and Arby's customers are also fairly happy with their physical condition (57 and 56 percent, respectively).

These numbers, however, have nothing to do with how many calories the fast-food chains have per dish. "Given that Chick-fil-A, Subway, and Arby's all offer menu items with a calorific punch, it's apparent that Americans' overall personal health perceptions aren't specific to their fast-food chain of choice," said Pam Goodfellow, the consumer insights director at BIGinsight™.

Instead, people at Subway are most likely to exercise regularly (49 percent), but McDonald's customers are least likely to exercise (35 percent). Forty-six percent of Chick-fil-A customers reported exercising regularly, and 43 percent of Arby's eaters exercise as well. Perhaps Chick-fil-A, Subway, and Arby's just attract more active customers, although those marathon runners subsisting on McDonald's may skew the ratings.
