  • The quality of food has not flagged since founder Matt Janke sold the restaurant to Dan Bugge and Chester Gerl took over the kitchen. [Eater 38 Member]
  • Long before the eat-local mantra, we had Matt's, whose dinner menu was based on whatever Matt Janke found downstairs at the stalls near Pike Place. Happy hour offers a good entree sampling. 5-7pm

  • Octopus is great. Sitting at the bar is just fine.
  • Sit at the bar without a reservation. Order fancy drinks. Have a deep conversation with your date.
  • The soft shell crab sandwich is fantastic. Do NOT agree to share with anyone in your party!
  • Wow. I think I had the best seat in the house. Right near the market sign. Also their bread pudding is amazing! Save room for it
  • When you're looking at drinks, try the French cider, especially if you're ordering a pork meal. It goes great!
