March Madness: The Championship

Who won the ultimate culinary contest?

We have finally made it to the conclusion of 2011's March Madness Food Fight. Throughout the past two weeks match-ups of culinary leaders duked it out in a tournament-style bracketed competition. Major chefs, restaurateurs, TV food personalities, and food writers went head to head with readers casting votes to advance their favorites to the finals.

There were some match-ups for the ages. For instance, in round one Rachael Ray took down Jamie Oliver, during the Sweet Sixteen David Chang bested Michael White, and Grant Achatz defeated Daniel Boulud during the Elite Eight. The Final Four pitted Thomas Keller against Anthony Bourdain, and Bobby Flay against Mario Batali.

Bourdain versus Batali — the final showdown was a battle between a restaurateur with raw culinary ambition and a globetrotting epicure with a laissez-faire attitude. It was close, but ultimately, Bourdain was voted the winner.
