'Maple Moose' Wins Lay's Canada's 'Do Us A Flavor' Contest

Back in May, Lay's announced the winner of its "Do Us a Flavor" contest, in which three chip flavors suggested by everyday Americans — Sriracha, Chicken & Waffles, and Cheesy Garlic Bread — competed against each other to be crowned champion and receive national distribution. Cheesy Garlic Bread won that battle, and now Canada has just announced its winner. It's a weird one.

Creamy Garlic Caesar, Maple Moose, Grilled Cheese & Ketchup, and Perogy Platter were all contenders, and this week the winner was made official: Maple Moose.

Recently named one of the wildest chip flavors ever by The Daily Meal, Maple Moose doesn't just taste like maple syrup, which would be a little weird in itself, but it actually has meat flavor as well, so it literally tastes like a combination of maple syrup and moose. How weird is that?

The winner, Tyler LeFrense (who came up with the idea) won $50,000 CAN, plus 1 percent of all profits. The flavor will be re-released in the Great White North at the end of November. We don't think we'll be trekking north of the border for a sample.
