Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants For 2013 Revealed

The World's 50 Best Restaurants announced its first-ever list of the best restaurants in Latin America last night at an event live-streamed from Lima, Peru.

During the awards ceremony, World's Best gave the Diners Club Lifetime Achievement award to chef Gastón Acurio of Astrid y Gastón, which occupies spot number 14 on the World's Best restaurant list and was voted the best restaurant in all of Latin America. Helena Rizzo, executive chef of Maní in Sao Paulo, received the Veuve Clicquot Latin America´s Best Female Chef Award.

The list was established by a vote of 252 experts in Latin America who each cast seven votes for the restaurants "where they have had their 'best experience' during the last 18 months before the voting deadline."
