Foursquare Tips

  • The lake was donated to Minneapolis in 1885. There's an "elf house" carved into the base of an ash tree. For years one could leave a letter for the elf supposedly living there & sometimes get a reply.
  • Walk around Lake Harriet at sunset so you end up at the band shell for a little summer music. Then head up the hill to Sebastian Joe's for ice cream (two scoops, of course).
  • Whether you just want to take a stroll, get some great icecream, feed the ducks or rent a sail boat, this is the place. It's a wonderful place to set and enjoy the beautiful trees and scenary.
  • Look out for farting joggers.
  • Lake Harriet was voted as having Best Bike Trail by City Pages readers in 2010. Be happy. Pedal fast. And if you get thirsty, just pump some fresh water from any of the three water wells.
  • Walk around Lake Harriet and find the famous "Troll Tree."
  • Try to find the "elf house" at the base of a tree. Kids will love it!
  • Beautiful place to burn off those extra calories!
  • Swim to the raft!
  • Carve some time out in your schedule to walk, run or skate around all three lakes
  • Ride the Trolly.
  • Walking around the lake reduces stress...
  • Great walking/running path. A little less than 3 miles around. Connects to lake Calhoun near the bandshell.
  • Just sight seeing before the snow flys
  • Calmer then Calhoun & better views if you dig nature.
  • Go out on the ice and fly a kite!
  • The water is splash-tastic!
  • Beautiful views, peaceful walking
  • Why do we have to have walking rules !?
  • Boobs, ducks and milfs
