Naming San Francisco's "best tacos" is such a personal thing, it’s likely to start arguments, but La Taqueria seems to be one place that a large majority of the city and the rest of the nation can agree on. It's one of the Mission’s many casual Mexican joints, but at around $3.50 a taco, it's one of the more expensive ones. Still, the hugely popular tacos (carnitas, chorizo, lengua, etc.,) and rice-free burritos, especially the melt-in-your-mouth grilled carne asada version, keep the seat-yourself tables packed with an eclectic mix of diners, who come in droves before heading to the bars on weekend nights.

  • The best taqueria on the Mission. An inexpensive hole in the wall with great food. -Anita Lo, Top Chef Masters

  • Rice in a burrito is ridiculous and they agree. They have my heart.
  • ask for your burrito 'crispy style'
  • got to get a carne asada burrito... best in the world
  • El dorado = crispy
  • We recommend the carnitas tacos...it's #3 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010
  • Bring a friend and do a spiltty-split with a crispy burrito & some crispy tacos. MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR CRISPY! So good. ps. if you grab a seat outside near windows you can watch them cut up the pork!
  • Legendary tacos!
  • The Mission District is full of Mexican joints, but La Taqueria's devotion to quality meats and dynamic salsas have earned it its spot in the San Fran culinary hall of fame.
  • add cheese and avocado
  • When you order your tacos, say you want them "El Dorado."
  • If you want to be the taco the town, ask for it "crispy cheesy" style. It's a taco with a normal soft shell wrapped around a slightly crispy shell with cheese sandwiched between the two.
  • carne asada burrito with avocado, followed by Mission Pie's banana cream pie! one of the best meals in sf.
  • Don't even bother with the burritos. This place is ALL about the tacos.
  • Fivethirtyeight burrito bracket put this #1, and they were right. The carnitas are good, but the carne asada is better. Crispy style is a must, though not on the menu.
  • Get a carne asada burrito "el dorado" style. Add cheese, sour cream and avocado.
  • Try the Tacos Dorados - These are the crispy style tacos. Soft on the outside, crispy on the inside and stuffed with tasty grilled fillings. How have I missed these all this time??
  • Im the biggest lengua snob in the world. This place, has AMAZING lengua. Make sure you get the burrito because they will stack it to no end and fill your ass up good. Negro Modello for beer of choice.
