Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill

The Bite Tonight’s next stop is to Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill located in Addison, TX.

With a classy, yet warm, atmosphere, Kenny’s is meant to have the feel of a 1940’s Chicago chophouse. The dining room is dimly lit adding a sexy, swanky style, but the overall vibe is very relaxed. Kenny’s menu consists of American classics with a funky upscale twist. Enjoy appetizers such as Mama Foo’s Chinese Meatballs and entrees like the U-10 Bacon Wrapped Shrimp with avocado crema, chipotle cream, smoked jalapeno, and corn salsa. With Grey Goose on tap, what else could you ask for? See how they ranked.

We started off the meal with the most amazing thing I have ever encountered…

The Popover: Flaky, buttery, and airy outside, with a doughy and soft inside. Words cannot describe what this tasted like. If you get the opportunity to try one, do it! It will change your life. Just look at this beauty!

Grey Goose on tap: Served at an icy cold 28 degrees, there isn’t any other way to enjoy Grey Goose. The best past was that our server switched out my brother’s martini glass for a chilled one every few minutes.

Tenderloin Crostini: Sliced filet, béarnaise, demi glace. The tenderloin was tender and cooked perfectly to a medium. The sauce was slightly salty and didn’t kill the texture of the crostini. I really enjoyed how the crostini held it’s crunch. Delicious!

My choice

Chicken: Sun-dried tomato, basil pesto, artichoke, mushroom, walnuts, goat cheese. My taste buds were all over the place! The artichokes were slightly sour, but paired well with the creamy, tangy goat cheese, and nutty, warm walnuts. The chicken was delicate and juicy. The basil pesto and sun-dried tomato really brightened up the dish.

Side: Bubbie’s Potato Cake: Cheddar, smoked bacon, lemon, dill sour cream. Crispy, smoky, and cheesy. The lemon, dill sour cream really cooled down this potato side.

Beef Short Rib: Five hour braise, port demi, tobasco fried onions. The short ribs were so tender that as soon as the fork hit them, they just fell apart. The sauce was sweet and smoky, perfect for ribs. The fried onions were light, but still offered that delicious onion ring flavor that everyone loves.

The special: Chicken Fried Steak: Topped with bacon and served with mashed potatoes and a creamy horseradish dipping sauce. The crispy breading was delicious, the tender, juicy steak was perfectly seasoned and melted in your mouth like butter. The bacon was salty, sweet, smoky and cooked perfectly to a crisp. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the horseradish cream sauce was the perfect compliment to the rich steak.

Side: Jeff’s Really Good Creamed Corn: OMG! Creamy with a hint of heat. This was so delicious that we asked our server what the spice was and he gave us the recipe! Seriously?! What restaurant would just hand over their recipe? One that is super confident in the quality of their dishes.

Key Lime Pie: We absolutely didn’t have room for dessert, but didn’t want to miss out. So we got a slice to go. Creamy and thick with a nice punch of real lime.

Kenny’s is awesome because the owner has successfully opened three other restaurants as part of the group: Kenny’s Burger Joint (wood grilled burgers), Kenny’s Italian Kitchen, and Kenny’s Smoke House all in Texas. Between the four places, you are sure to find one that suits your taste buds. The service was amazing! It was just honest and effortless. We could tell that our server, Richard really enjoyed waiting on us. He went above and beyond, but it gave me the impression that this was just how things were done at Kenny’s. The fact that our service printed off the owner and chef’s creamed corn recipe and even gave us his personal email for questions really took customer service to a whole new level. The quality and taste of the food was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. That made this dinner the favorite of the trip. I really liked that Kenny’s has an upscale atmosphere without having super expensive or overwhelming prices. Every single restaurant can learn a lot from Kenny’s! Experience any one of their restaurants as soon as possible.
