Kate Spade is known for its adorable line of accessories, ready-to-wear and jewelry, so it’s no surprise that today’s NYFW presentation made for an Instagram-worthy afternoon. The new Spring/Summer 2016 collection was entirely floral themed with rose patterned skirts, petal-printed dresses and even flower-shaped cutouts, so for the show the brand called FTD to cart in 30,000 fresh flowers. They created an on-stage meadow and surrounded the models with roses, daisies, tulips and sunflowers. Attendees were even invited to take home handmade bouquets from a Kate Spade-designed custom flower bar. Spring was quite literally in full bloom.
The spring collection ran the full gamut of the rainbow from hot pink bow-backed dresses to citron colored skirt-suits—there were even a few rainbow striped ensembles tossed in for good measure. Despite the wide color range the collection was cohesive—from the daisy laser-cut suits to the garden bucket of roses that doubled as a handbag. Pieces were excessively detailed, one dress with a seemingly simple petal print was actually printed onto texturized fabric flowers. It was the Inception of NYFW.

Accessories were seriously on point and included some of the most quirky pieces we’ve ever seen. Basket-weave clutches took the shape of Dalmatians on a leash, handbags looked like buckets of popcorn and admission tickets, and one clutch looked exactly like an ice cream truck! But our favorite accessory had to be the drop-handle bucket bag that was designed to look like a carousal—it was literally made for sunny days in the park. And now we know the first place we’ll start looking when we need a statement bag come March.
