Drink.well.: Just What We Needed

Friday night we went to an art opening with the good intentions of cooking dinner at home afterwards.  A couple glasses of wine later, of course, we did not feel like laboring in our kitchen.  Our friend has been urging us to try Drink Well so it was there we headed.  A small pub with a chic casual eatery feel.  Food is ordered at the bar which is festive, but a tad awkward and time consuming.  There are only 25 seats in the house and you definitely feel special once you are seated and are not one of the people hovering awkwardly in the doorway.

My husband got a pilsner and I tried a special from their spring menu – a lively cocktail called "Son of a Peacher Man"  with a slight bite and peachy undertones, it was perfectly not-too-sweet and a really great way to start the night.  We started off with the brussels sprouts, featured in the photo.  They were the thing that definitely stuck out the most to us.

Cooked in thick bacon (I am a vegetarian and did not read totally carefully, but still ate the sprouts) with a reduction, the sprouts were charred just to the point of carmelization.  We just loved these.  We also ordered the "Crack and Cheese" and the "ZLT" (zucchini).  Both were wonderful and favored smoky hues – his from the smoked gouda and mine with a smoky sea salted zucchini slab.  The homemade potato chips were outrageous.  All in all, a great spot especially for a quicker meal.
