Jamie Oliver Invests In New Gastropub

British chef Jamie Oliver is investing in his first North American restaurant, Maison Publique, in Montreal, according to Montreal Gazette. Oliver is partnering with Canadian chef Derek Dammann, his former sous chef and chef de cuisine at Fifteen in London.

The gastropub will have a British tavern feel and serve British cuisine, but "there won't be fish and chips," Dammann told the Montreal Gazette. Maison Publique will use local Canadian ingredients to create its dishes.

Dammann hopes for a simple and relaxed ambience with casual service style at Maison Publique. The space will seat 40 people and have an open kitchen, a 12-seat bar, a beer refrigerator, and a private dining room. There are also plans for a street-side terrace.
