Foursquare Tips

  • It's not easy for a Jewish guy to open a ramen joint in Tokyo. It's even harder to get Japanese people to say it's good. Ivan did both and now he's here in New York, home of the Jews, to feed us.
  • One of the most unique and delicious ramen shops in the city. Unashemedly inauthentic. A must-visit.
  • Try one of New York City's best ramen spots, Ivan Orkin's Ramen Slurp Shop in Midtown. Grab the seminal Shio ramen recipe made with egg, ribboned chashu pork, & shio.
  • Worth the trek to 11th Ave. to sample the much talked about ramen, which competes with the likes of the nearby Ippudo and Totto. We've only had the Tokyo Shoyu, but we'll be back soon to try others!
  • Doesn't hold up against Ippudo, Naruto, Jinya, Rai Rai, Bassanova, etc.
  • Better than ippudo. There I said it! Also truly lovely public bathrooms.
  • Tasty but small portions + overpriced.
  • Came here on opening day so it was a bit crazy but the ramen had good texture. The owner, David, recommends ordering the Negi Salad with your order.
  • Better than Totto or Ippudo!
  • $14 for a bowl of meh. Hard to recommend with Ippudo and two Totto locations nearby.
  • Not worth it
  • Get the Ivan Palmer. A play on the Arnold Palmer but with yuzu instead if lemonade. Broths are a bit on the saltier side IMHO.
  • Expertly curated high-end food court in Hells Kitchen. Court Street Grocers crazy sandwiches to The Cannibals full slate of meats and beers. Best ramen in NYC --> Ivan Ramen outside of Tokyo.
  • Put an egg on it.
  • Clean, delicious broth. A bit overpriced for lunch fare. Portion sizes are "healthy", may be a bit on the small side for most. Both donburis are good but the whitefish is the clear winner.
  • I've been here 4 times & have tried 5 dishes. LOVED: 1) Classic Shoyu Ramen 2) Smoked Salmon Donburi (Rice Bowl). See Top 10 dishes on Foodmento:
  • Amazing ramen served up pretty quick from the counter. The garlic mazeman is my favorite though the spicy chilli is also good. Sit at the counter for the best experience.
  • Spicy red chili ramen!
  • The ramen here is pretty terrible
  • Try the Ivan Palmer - half yuzu lemonade and half roasted barley tea.
