Bikinis! Bikinis! Bikinis! Now that I’ve got your attention, it’s time to listen up. Bikini season is just around the corner ladies, so it’s time to ditch the cookies and pick up some celery sticks. Trust us, the sacrifice will be worth it, especially if you can shimmy into these editorial-worthy pieces.
Andrea Iyamah is the new cool kid on the block. Her swimwear line, based in Ontario, Canada, features a collection of seasonally-appropriate ethnic prints with a modern twist. Bikinis with some crazy cut-outs have a sort of cyborg edge to them and come in bright colorful pops of acid green, fuchsia and purple. The high-waisted cuts are particularly on trend, as are the unique tropical prints that hark back to designer Iyamah’s Nigerian roots.
It’s refreshing to see African fashion in swimwear and we predict that this trend will keep on growing. One of our favorite tops in the collection is a mermaid-green beach cape with frilled edges, a piece that’s far more interesting than your average wrap-around cover-up. (Plus, it gives you an opportunity to show off your outfit at the same time.) The neon swimsuits are perfect for those who are bold and brave, as the shocking shades ensure that all eyes are on you. Plus you never know when you’re going to need a sexy lifeguard to spot you.
So while you reluctantly pick at that salad, let the thought of looking smoking hot in one of Iyamah’s bikinis motivate you. After all, once the season is over winter will come and you can feel free to nosh away on as many carbs as possible—in order to combat the cold, of course.
Andrea Iyamah is available online and priced from $62-$144.
