It's National PB&J Day! How Do We Prefer Our Peanut Butter?

As the pixelated banana would say: "It's peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly time!" Today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly day and the question about America's most beloved sandwich is: how do we prefer our peanut butter: crunchy or creamy? According to a recent Welch's survey, it was a close call, but 53 percent of Americans surveyed would choose creamy over crunchy peanut butter. Sorry crunch fans, it was a close one, but the classic texture of peanut butter won out.

No matter how you slice it, Americans love their peanut butter. More than half of those surveyed said that they eat PB&J 1-5 times per month, and they were divided on whether or not the proper sandwich should be sliced in half or not.

Celebrate this glorious nutty day with a few of the Daily Meal's favorite peanut butter and jelly-inspired recipes including a peanut butter and jelly shake; a peanut butter, jelly, and bacon melt (trust us, it's good!); and peanut butter and jelly French toast.
