Host a Taco Taste-Off

In honor of National Taco Day, gather up your pals and get start cooking

In life, there are always tough decisions to make — choosing a college, choosing a career, choosing what you want to eat for lunch, even choosing who you’re going to marry —and we think you should explore all your options before deciding. Today, we're tackling one of the culinary world's biggest questions: Soft or hard tacos?

Everyone has a preference. While the more authentic version of a taco is with a soft tortilla, the more American version is a crunchy one — we’re thinking we should take it to a vote.

Host a party around the big question. Have your guests make their favorite taco renditions and show them off to the guests. Create a poll card and have everyone taste and vote for their favorite.

Points should be based off the most important aspects of tacos — the meat, the fixings, and the shell, plus extra points for presentation and creativity.

Create a DIY toppings bar filled with all of the usual fixings like lettuce, tomato, salsa, guacamole, etc., and then add flair and flavor with toppings like mango, goat cheese, arugula, and other taco oddities.

Here are a few kick-off taco ideas:

Flank Steak Tacos

Beer-Braised Lamb Tacos

Shrimp Tacos with Avocado and Mango Salsa

Citrus Pulled Pork Tacos

Chicken Ranch Tacos
