Hong Kong Restaurant L'altro Launches Luxurious White Truffle Menu

Hong Kong-based Italian restaurant L'altro, headed by two-Michelin-star chef Philippe Léveillé, will be celebrating the season of one of the world's most expensive ingredients, white truffles, with an exclusive eight-course white truffle menu.

As one of Italy's top influential chefs, Léveillé is closely connected to suppliers of the luxurious truffle in the Piedmont region of Italy. During the annual harvest season of white truffles, he personally visits suppliers to select the best white truffles, certified by the National Truffle Study Centre.

"Truffle is an ingredient I love and respect," Léveillé said in a press release. "It's simple, genuine, and should not be cooked or worked. It is great enough to raise the glamour of a great plate, standing at the highest levels of perfection of taste that is unmatched, offering a sensory experience unique and unrepeatable."

Beginning on Sept. 25, the eight-course "truffle degustation menu" will include 24 grams of white truffle, priced at HK$3,388 ($437). Léveillé's menu is a mix of clean, classic dishes and more exclusive dishes with a modern twist. Some of the luxurious specialties include  an amuse bouche of mmushroom cappuccino, white truffle cocoa, and salted truffle croissant, as well as a seared and chilled foie gras cube with white truffle. The more traditional and simple recipes on the menu include risotto and tagliolini, giving diners an opportunity to savor the pure taste of white truffle.

For customers looking for a little less, four-course and six-course menus are also available, priced at HK$1,688 ($218) and HK$2,588 ($334).

Besides the extravagant dinner, individually wrapped white truffles certified by the National Truffle Study Centre in Alba, Italy, are also available for sale at the restaurant. This luxurious gift comes wrapped inside a special gift box that includes  recipes from chef Léveillé.
