Can You Guess Why This Valentine's Day Dessert Costs $75,000?

A special Valentine's Day dessert is available this year at Boston steakhouse Strip by Strega for high-rollers who are ready to take their relationship to the next stage — for $75,000.

The dessert, designed by pastry chef Alex Bonnefoi, formerly of the Four Seasons George V in Paris, is a white chocolate and vanilla sponge cake inside a handmade chocolate orb. That might not sound like a nearly $100,000 dessert, but this particular cake includes a giant diamond engagement ring inside.

Designed in collaboration with Elite Time and Jewelers of Boston, the "Ultimate Proposal" cake features a whopping five carat solitaire on a platinum band. However, if you prefer, you can also call ahead and order just the dessert itself, if you have your own ring in mind.

Admittedly, the cake itself does look on the small side, but we're assuming that the sheer thrill of a proposal, plus the size of that diamond, will render the lucky lady too excited to care about the size of the cake.
