Holidays Wouldn't Be The Same Without Family

Despite all those Thanksgiving horror stories, it seems like families still come first during the holiday season.

We asked our readers to choose their favorite part of the holidays, and 51 percent chose "spending time with the family."

Of course, since many of our readers are food lovers, 25 percent said holiday meals were their favorite holiday treat. Some of our readers (15 percent) like the time off from work best and 10 percent enjoy the festive decorations.

Perhaps family won out because, while Thanksgiving may be awkward, December brings around a wave of happy emotions (prompted by Christmas music, hot chocolate, and the promise of presents). Still, it's good to know that even with all the nitpicking, the awkward moments, and the stress, family trumps food and laziness. Bring on December.
