Have You Heard Of Kabuki Cuisine?

Kabuki cuisine is all the rage across Europe at the moment. In a trend which has been picking up momentum since the early 2000's, this relatively recent take on fuision cuisine has finally exploded. It blends traditional Catalan ingredients and dishes with Japanese style sushi, sashimi and nigiri preperation methods. Kabuki-pioneering Chef Ricardo Sanz mastered his skill set under the talented tutelage of Masao Kikuchi, chef and owner of the restaurant Tokyo – Taro before debuting his own "Cruce de Caminos" or "crossroads" cuisine (In English) otherwise known as Kabuki.

This fall, Hotel Arts Barcelona, a classy hotel set in Barcelona's Olympic Village will add to their exceptional culinary experiences by introducing an exclusive Kabuki pop-up. From October 13 – 19th, guests can enjoy a gastronomically fueled journey with a special menu created by Chef Ricardo Sanz, of Michelin starred Kabuki Restaurant in Madrid.

Chef Antonio Saez, who was recently appointed as Hotel Arts new Executive Chef, will oversee the successful launch of the Kabuki pop-up. In order to make sure everything goes smoothly, he is working with Kabuki's regular suppliers as well as developing a cross-training program for both kitchen teams to ensure guests at Frank's Bar can enjoy the essence of Kabuki in Barcelona.

Hotel Arts is always on the cutting-edge of the culinary travel world, setting standards and exceeding expectations with each of their michelin starred eateries and chefs, and their culinary events such as one featurin 30 Michelin-starred chefs earlier this year. This Kaubki pop-up is sure to be equally memorable, as chef Sanz' unique fusion of Japanese, Spanish and Mediterranean style cuisine is a perfect compliment to the traditional Catalan fare currently offered at Hotel Arts Barcelona.

To enhance the overall guest experience, the décor at Frank's Bar will be changed to reflect the Japanese style of Chef Sanz cuisine as well as adding a new sushi counter to the bar. The new menu will consist of sushi, sashimi, salads and signature Kabuki dishes that will be paired with a variety of sakes chosen by Kabuki's wine consultant Juancho Asenjo.

For patrons that prefer cocktails to sake they can choose from new specially created fusion cocktails prepared by Kabuki and Frank's bartenders. Appearances will be made by the pioneering Chef Ricardo Sanz, as well as Kabuki's Master Sake Sommelier, Yuji Matsumoto.
