Some credit Healdsburg’s transformation with the 2001 opening of this chic hotel on the western edge of the leafy town plaza. The 55 rooms and suites are outfitted with Tibetan rugs, pecan-wood floors, and most have a private balcony (either with a view of the redwood-fringed square, interior courtyard gardens, or Sonoma countryside). Co-owner Charlie Palmer offers a six-course tasting menu at Dry Creek Kitchen, though guests can opt to order in his locally-inspired la carte dishes (coriander-crusted Sonoma duck with pickled dried cherries, roasted Petaluma chicken with Applewood-smoked bacon) to enjoy in the comfort of their Frette bathrobes.
