The Great GoogaMooga Returns For 3 Days With VIP Cocktails, Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Prospect Park's food-music festival returns for its second year May 17 to 19, expanding to a three-day event and upping the ante with 10 more food vendors than last year.

The weekend kicks off with a paid-ticket opening concert ($49.50 a ticket), headlined by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with The Flaming Lips and The Darkness. Saturday and Sunday tickets will be free online, as they were last year, and awarded at random.

Joining the food lineup of 85 vendors are Bed-Stuy favorite Dough, Mario Batali's Eataly, Andy Ricker's Pok Pok Phat Thai, April Bloomfield's Salvation Taco, and of course, The Daily Meal favorite The Meatball Shop.

In the meantime, last year's crazy ExtraMooga (with appearances by Anthony Bourdain and Aziz Ansari) has been scrapped in favor of a cheaper, easier VIP Cocktail Experience, with PDT, Pegu Club, Clover Club, Booker & Dax, and The Nomad, to name a few. This also means some vendors (Pat LaFrieda, Umami Burger) will emerge from ExtraMooga to serve the regular crowd.

"We wanted to keep focused on the cocktail experience, and we also wanted to open up a lot of that real estate to the general admission," Superfly co-founder Jonathan Mayers told us over the phone, explaining the death of ExtraMooga. Instead of having food personalities like Ruth Reichl holed away for ticketholders, Mayers tells us there will be a Literary Stage (in addition to two music stages) for food talks and demos from the likes of Daniel Boulud and Michelle Bernstein.

"There will be more food and drink to go around," Mayers said. "We're working with returning vendors and advising them on quantities, and adding additional points of water sales." As for dealing with the terrible cellphone reception from last year? "We're working with cellphone providers to bring in cellphone towers to Prospect Park."

Check out the full music and food lineup below, then start stalking www.googamooga.com for tickets (and the rest of the drink info). Tickets for the kick-off concert ($49.50) and VIP Cocktail Experience ($79.50) are up for grabs starting this Thursday, March 28 at noon ET. General Admission tickets will be available for an online giveaway from April 1 to April 3.
