this is a recipe that I got from a coworker a long time ago. So far I haven't had anyone not love the finished product - not even people who don't like gingersnaps!
3/4 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup molasses 2 cup flour 2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground clove 1 tsp ground dry Ginger Sugar for topping
In a bowl cream butter and sugar until white. Beat in egg and molasses. sift flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, Ginger, cloves. stir into batter. Put mixing bowl in fridge for 15 minutes . Preheat oven to 350. Sprinkle sugar on sheet of wax paper . pull off walnut size dough and roll between fingers, making a ball. Do not compress. Dip ball in sugar and place on baking sheet, sugar facing up. Repeat. Bake 8-10 min. Makes 3 dozen.
