'Game Of Thrones' Wine Coming Next Season

Since HBO's hit series Game of Thrones started airing, there have already been several exciting beer ventures undertaken by brewers and fans of the show, but next season for the first time viewers will be able to play their drinking games with the Wines of Westeros.

According to Gothamist, the new line of Game of Thrones-inspired wine is a fan project from Common Ventures and will be released next year, in time for the next season of the TV show based on George R. R. Martin's novels. There will be 12 red and white wines paired to the characteristics of 12 houses on the show, including the Starks, Lannisters, Greyjoys, Arryns, Baratheons, Tyrells, Martells, and Targaryens. There will also be wines for the Night's Watch, Dothraki, White Walkers, and Wildlings.

"The reds are all associated with the houses that are headstrong and robust. The whites on the other hand are more cunning, perceptive and mysterious," said Jane Burlop of Common Ventures.

According to the Wines of Westeros website, the Game of Thrones wines will include sauvignon blancs, pinot noirs, merlots, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignons, and shiraz, and are expected to run $19 a bottle. It would probably be a good idea to keep a few bottles around at all times, so you'll have them at hand for when your favorite character suddenly dies terribly.
