Food Porn From the Vendy Awards

Governors Island's annual Vendy Awards brought food trucks across the river last Saturday, with judges Eddie Huang, Das Racist, Food & Wine's Kate Krader, Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras, and Sara Lipton rating the eats. And while plenty of newbies (and a dragon dance) were part of festivities, low-key food truck Piaztlan Authentic Mexican took home the Vendy Cup.

Other winners included Melt Bakery (Best Dessert, against CoolHaus and Monsieur Singh Lassi), Phil's Steaks (Rookie of the Year, shown left), Cinnamon Snail (People's Taste), and Lumpia Shack (Best Market Vendor).

While winner Eleazar Perez of Piaztlan Authentic Mexican had a heartwarming thank you speech ("This is my American Dream," she said), pretty much every media outlet agrees that Cinnamon Snail's Adam Sobel's speech was the best, the entirety of which was, "Oh my goo-goo-gitty-goo!"
